“The Word Became Flesh and Made His Dwelling among Us”  

     Now that the Liturgical season of the Christmas is upon us. I wonder why God chose to save us by becoming Man. Celebrating the Christmas in the Philippines has given us the real essence of Incarnation, where we are together with our Formators, live a simple life through offering Christmas gift of presence and love to one another. I think the real meaning of Christmas is presence, as Christ is present among us is what exactly Incarnation means. Why God became like you and me.

      The word incarnation means “embodiment of God in the person of Christ.” From the Latin word, “incarnationem” w means “act of being made flesh” used by Church writers especially in reference to God in Christ.  It is necessary to know, to understand and be convinced that Jesus Christ became man to remind us that we are the beloved sons and daughters of God. In fact, the Incarnation means for us personally, that God became who we are. He became a human person like you and me to heal our wounded souls because as human beings, we have strengths and fragilities. Acknowledging our imperfections, weaknesses, and inconstant creatures; which bounded so much with limitations of time and space God chose to be like us. Therefore, the Son of God becoming Man is a special gift of love and generosity that God has for us. “The Word became flesh is to save and reconcile us with God who ‘loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins. “The Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world, and he was revealed to take away sins” (CCC 457).

         Who is God who became human? God is the fullness of all being and perfection. He is eternal, all-powerful, all-good and loving. He is also our creator, our first beginning and our last end. When Jesus Christ took on the flesh in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, human nature was changed. Since Christ united himself with humanity he raised up our dignity to a whole new level.

      Being a missionary, we are living like Christ among the poor. We do not distinguishing ourselves among them, because in them we see the incarnate God. We continue his mission on bringing people to God. Christ came down to be human, he builds a new unity between God and man and this is the act of God’s mercy. Fr. Ramon Zubieta our great founder an authentic disciple of Christ, being poor in the spirit in order to save the women and children in the Peruvian jungle. That is the true missionary is, living among the natives where they need us most. Forgetting oneself is to give life to others. The incarnation is not happening only in the past it continues in you and me.

Balun la’o ain, balun sa’e kareta, balun sa’e ro, balun sa’e aviaun maibe importante liu antes atu la’o ba fatin ida precisa hatene tansa hau la’o,  hau atu la’o ba nebe ?no  hau nia dalan mak ida nebe’e los? Wainhira ita husu perguntas sira  iha leten, ita iha entusiasmo no hakarak lalais atu  la’o no to’o  ba fatin nebe ita hakarak ba. Atu to’o ho diak antes ita la’o, ita mos precisa prepara an.

     Semana ida ne’e, ita tama iha semana ba dala tolu tempu advento nian,  hamutuk ho saun Jose no Nain feto nebe la’o ba Belem nune’e Jesus bele moris ba. La’o ho haksolok, fo savor ba dalan nebe ita liu atu nune’e ita bele prepara ita nia fuan atu nune’e bele sai Jesus ninia Belen.

     Buat nebe permanente iha ema nia moris mak troka ou muda. Ema barak gosta troka husi fatin ida ba fatin seluk, balun gosta troka sasan, la kontente ho sasan uitoan deit, ohin hakarak ida, aban hakarak ida seluk, balun troka husi serbisu id aba serbisu ida seluk, iha mos ema balun la kontente ho ema ida deit, hakarak troka mos “partner”. Ohin jura hakarak mate ka moris ho ninia feen ou nia la’en maibe aban hare ema ida diak liu iha mos hakarak atu troka ninia kaben ho ema seluk.

     Ida ne’e mak realidade iha moris ema nian. Maibe iha Segundo domingo de Advento saun Joao Batista iha evanjelho saun Mateus 3:1, katak “TROKA IMI NIA HAHALOK”. 

    Moris iha mundo ne’e ema gosta liu atu halo buat nebe la’os Maromak nia hakarak. Matan Moris

Matan Moris!

  Kreda fo tempu ba ita fiar nain sira, tempu especial atu prepara an. Tempu ida ne’e  ita bolu tempu Advento. Liafuan ida nebe ita rona husi liafuan diak iha primeiro domingo tempu advent husi evangelho saun Mateus nian  mak “Matan Moris”.  

    Matan moris!  iha lian ingles katak” stay awake. Matan moris fo hanoin mai hau atu fo valor no aprecia tempu hot-hotu. Tempu horseik liu tiha ona, tempu abanbairua nian seidauk to’o no tempu ohin loron nian iha ninia folin boot, tenki aproveita ho diak. Koko uza tempu ohin loron nian hodi halo buat nebe  iha folin ba ita nia moris.  Tempu ohin loron nian wainhira  liu nia  sei la fila fali mai.

     

     Jesus moris iha rai Belen iha  tinan rihun rua liu ba, Nia moris iha ita le’et, no Nia sei mai fali iha loron ikus. Matan moris halo ita descobre ninia prezensa iha ita nia moris lor-loron atu loron ida sei to’o mai toman ita prepara an nafatin.

     

      Tempu advento fo hanoin fali mai ita atu matan moris hodi prepara an. Prepara an oinsa? Maluk barak prepara an hodi sosa sasan foun ba tempu natal, halo dosi, prepara hahan midar, sosa kareta, hamos uma, balun halo uma foun, halo belen iha uma oin no prepara buat seluk tan maibe la’os deit ida ne’e.

Matan moris nafatin hodi hein Nia mai!Hein ho esperansa, domin, ksolok no hakmatek.

Beyond Bounderies

Beyond Boundaries

The characteristics of walls are protection, division, and defense. We may consider “The Great Wall” in China as the best example. A curious person has the tendency to learn new things, an adventurer in other words. Nothing stats from an easy thing! Knowledge cannot be gained by sitting and gazing from where we are. To go beyond our boundaries is to widen our perspectives, concepts, and ideas.

Let me share with you my journey towards unknown lands. On the 15^th of  December 2013, I departed from Myanmar to Macau. I had no idea how to go because it was my first time to fly alone and I am not familiar with Macau. Thank God! I arrived safely on the same day. Here comes a new environment, new faces, and new lifestyles. My first impression was the fraternal relationship that the community has. Sisters and candidates can freely make jokes and share their laughter. As I tried to adjust myself with the new community, I encountered many difficulties because I came with my narrow-minded that prevents my understanding of others. I also discovered many new things and challenges at the same time. Sometimes, shedding my tears without the knowledge of anyone. Despite all those peculiar sufferings, I challenged myself to go on. Gradually, I was able to cope up with my studies and gained friends at the same time. We did enjoy our learnings! We also shared moments of joy and pain, exchanged our cultures, sometimes there were disagreements though. To take it positively, our community in Macau was a wonderful one. We were composed of many nationalities: Viet Nam, Philippines, Myanmar, East-Timor, Hong Kong, Spain, Indonesia and India. It was a very challenging community, but with a positive result.

I am currently in the Philippines, journeying with my companions in the Novitiate. When I think back those years I’ve passed, I am proud of myself that I did it. Journeying alone will not give me any memorable moments because all the joy,  laughter and memories are composed of friends. Out of my own boundaries, I gained more knowledge which helps me to understand my own limitations. I won’t regret the path I have chosen because I trust in the person (Jesus) who has called me to follow him. There will be more challenges to come, but I have my sisters in the community to accompany me and share their fraternal love.

To be religious is to go beyond one’s own boundaries, to see the beauty of reality in another side of the fence. Learn from the uniqueness of others and grow by relating to others, it is difficult though. The formation is a time to know, to feel and to heal because knowing one’s own self is an essential aspect. We all are struggling to reach our goal. I learn to share, to love and to know others. In everything I do, may they be done for the glory of God.
